Welcome to the most comprehensive consumer-directed care program in the nation! Consumer Directed Care Plus (CDC+) is a Medicaid program in Florida that gives the consumer the opportunity to hire workers and vendors to help with daily needs such as housecleaning, cooking and getting dressed. Your paid workers may even be family members or friends. In order to be eligible for CDC+, you must be receiving services from the Medicaid Aged/Disabled Adult (ADA) Waiver or the Traumatic Brain and Spinal Cord Injury (TBI/SCI) Waiver. All of the waiver services you are now receiving are available in CDC+. The PLUS means there’s more! You will have a trained Consultant to assist you but you may also choose a family member or friend as your Representative to manage your budget plan and help you make decisions. The CDC+ program is operated by the Florida Department of Elder Affairs with the Department of Health and the Department of Children and Families as partners. CDC+ allows you to live your life your way.

On July 24, 2009, Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius renewed the declaration that a public health emergency exists nationwide involving novel influenza A (2009 H1N1). The Consumer Directed Care Plus Program (CDC+) operates under the 1915(j) State Plan Amendment which requires consumers to have a "back-up" plan for critical services in the event a service provider is unable to furnish a needed service and that the plan is made a part of the participant's service plan. It is important for CDC+ participants to review the most current CDC+ budget plan to make sure that a back-up plan is in place to address emergencies that would pose a risk of harm to the consumer's health or welfare. Participants should have a plan, including back-up providers if necessary, in case their regular providers are sick with the flu for one to two weeks or more. If you are not sure if a back-up plan has been listed on your budget plan to cover critical services, please contact your consultant to review the plan and/or to make updates as needed.
